After last year's frankly ridiculous Soul-Identity boat party with Greg Wilson on the River Thames, we just had to do it again, didn't we?
So, on Saturday 28th August 2010, we unleash our second annual Summer Shakedown Boat party upon The Thames and this year we've enlisted not one but TWO very special DJs who really know how to tick all your August Bank holiday boxes. Both are known worldwide for their party rocking abilities and with the two in control of the upper deck for the full four hours, you can expect a righteous blend of soul, funk, hip hop, disco and Latin. Plus with The Golden Jubilee's big open sun deck, there's no better place to experience the full London skyline while catching a few rays (and a few beers) sailing down the river.

DJ FORMAT
-------------------------------------------------------
First up, we have a very special bank holiday appearance from the one and and only DJ FORMAT who'll be making a special trip up from his native Brighton to make a rare London visit on our boat.
Following support slots for Jurrassic 5 and DJ Shadow, and early remixes and comp inclusions for the likes of Mo' Wax and Bomb Hip Hop, the Southampton born Format (AKA Matt Ford) exploded onto the UK underground music scene in 2003 with his debut LP "Music For The Mature B-Boy", an album of soulful, funk fuelled hip hop. His second LP "If You Can't Join 'Em… Beat 'Em" quickly followed in 2005 and soon Fabric came knocking, asking him to contribute to their highly successful Fabric Live mixes. Format responded with an an extension of his much celebrated live party sets, laying down a boundary-crossing selection of jazz, funk, soul and hip hop, and combining with ease the earthy soulfulness of Ella Fitzgerald and Nostalgia 77 with the cut and paste boom bap of Coldcut and Ugly Duckling. The mix proved to be one of the most popular additions to the series, and soon his eclectic turntablism was in much demand.
In 2007, he joined the likes of Gilles Peterson and Japan's much vaunted DJ Muro, when he was asked by the legendary Fania label to pick tunes from their extensive back catalogue to produce a 60 minute 'Sound of Latin NYC' for their Fania DJ series. This year, he's back in the studio and has already unleashed a side project, the highly praised "Reverse Engineering" LP with friend Simon James under the moniker The Simonsound on First Word Records. He's also been hard at work completing his third album, hopefully to be released by the end of 2010.

DOM SERVINI
-------------------------------------------------------
Also travelling with us down the Thames on the upper deck will be the Wah Wah 45s don DOM SERVINI. The eclectic DJ/label boss/music journalist/Colourful radio jock and all round master of all he purveys has long been one of London's leading lights when it comes to underground soul music and all its factions. DJing since the 90's with a number of residencies, parties and worldwide venue appearances under his belt, including the monthly Wah Wah 45s get togethers at Favela Chic and Vibe Bar, and his recently highly acclaimed 'Goin' Downstairs' venture with Gilles Peterson, there is no better man to get a party started than our man Dom. To familiarise yourself with his radio shows on Colourful, his podcasts online and of course the record label eh... everywhere, check out the Wah Wah label site.

DOWNSTAIRS
-------------------------------------------------------
Downstairs on the lower deck, The CIGARETTES AND SUNSHINE SOUNDSYSTEM and STEVE KIW will again be joining Soul-Identity's ROB COLEY, and this time around, Beatfix's own deep Cratedigger, RAD DAD for an anything goes freestyle session. With one eye firmly on the dancefloor, you can expect the unexpected.
And the fun just doesn't stop there, as when the boat docks at 6pm, we'll be heading over to the Summer Shakedown AFTER PARTY close by (FREE for all boatgoers) where the boat DJs and maybe just a few SPECIAL GUESTS will keep the party bumping way into the early hours of Sunday morning just in time for Carnival!
