summer in the city
29/07/2008Apologies for the slackness recently. We are working on getting a regular blog up and running and not just using it for spam purposes (!). Regular visitors may have noticed that we are slowly integrating everything into a more coherent site design, instead of the disparate pages and random sub domains we were using before. Slowly surely. In the meantime you can check out the new radio site by clicking the radio option on menu bar above. Next project is to get the homepage up to speed and the podcast series back up and running (can you call it a series if we’ve done two in two years?). London is still as busy as ever and we’ve been experiencing a mini heatwave, so with lots of events going on and little time in the hq, the online elements have been slipping.
Anyhow, we’ve been digging deeper than usual and picking up more and more jazz and disco on the vinyl tip. As more and more record shops and distributors go under, its still important to support the original sources of music. Call us old-fashioned, but we still love the hum and the feel of a vinyl record when possible.
We’ve got a few gigs coming up in the next week or so, as Rob Coley will be guesting at the mighty Dom Servini’s live jazz session “Favourite Things” at the Proud Galleries, Camden on Monday 04 August, and we launch our new night “Tumbao” at Barrio North on Friday 08 August (more details to follow). At “Favourite Things” it’ll be a strictly vinyl jazz set (with a hint of Latin) and its free entry all night. The Favourite Things house band will also be dropping some science on the night and of course Dom will be on hand to show us how it’s really done. Should be a good night. If you can’t reach next week, you should check it out anyway soon, as it really is worth a Monday evening of your time sometime.
